We will help plan a new and effective diet

Did you know that including protein in your diet has been shown to increase the secretion of the PYY hormone which signals to the brain that you are full. Eating low fat dairy products has been shown to improve digestion and help the body absorb less fat. Eating foods in liquidised form such as soups, makes the stomach work harder and will make you feel full for longer. Sometimes small changes in your diet can have a great impact.

Did you know that foods that are high on the glycemic index are broken down quickly by the body and as a result, glucose is released rapidly into the body. In response, your body will release insulin to move the glucose into the cells to be metabolised and this is why if you eat high GI food in the afternoon, such as a chocolate, you can end up feeling sleepy.

Did you know that research has shown that the human body is slightly alkaline and that many of the foods we eat, even vegetables such as tomatoes, lemons and oranges are classified as acidic. The body will try to compensate for an acidic pH by using alkaline minerals, however if the body cannot obtain these minerals, acidosis (build up of acids) will occur affecting the body’s ability to heal itself and excrete toxins. The body will be more susceptible to cardiovascular damage, hormonal problems, weight gain and other illnesses.

There are a number of diets being presented out in the market and often these diets are designed by individuals with no clinical experience. At diet specialist all our diets are designed by dieticians and based on the latest scientific research. In building your diet, will incorporate the following:
  • After assessing your weight and height, we will calculate your body mass index, your basal metabolic rate, your activity level, and your ideal weight.
  • From this will understand your calorie consumption needs and build a diet that is at the right calorie level.
  • We will build a diet that incorporate foods low on the GI index and at the right pH balance to aid weight loss.
  • We will provide low calorie substitutes to your current foods to help cause minimal disruption to your current diet and also highlight how small things can sometimes greatly increase calorie intake.
  • We will help you understand appropriate portion sizes. For example an  average serving of fruit and vegetables corresponds to the size of a closed fist. The correct portion for most meats is roughly the size of a deck of cards or the palm of your hand.
  • To help you feel full quicker we will include the appropriate level of protein.
  • To help you digest more thoroughly, we will include low fat dairy products in your diet and ways of incorporating more soups.
  • We will also advise you on food consumption frequency, because small but frequent portions are know to help increase metabolism and help you to burn more of your food, even when you are sitting down.
